So, as this is the first post we should start with a hello. So – hello! Hopefully the beginning of something wonderful, we’ll see. To kick things off I made a game as part of the itch.io one-page RPG Jam. It was a lot of fun and I can now say that we here at the Den are official publishers, albeit small.

The theme this year was ‘Transport’ and I tried to keep it in theme. As a sci-fi fan I immediately thought about galactic travel, especially as the little animation for the ‘Transport’ theme had a little portal that is very Portal.

The game that we eventually made is called Gone Too Far and there’s a link at the bottom of this post. It’s a game I initally planned as a solo journaling game, something common these days amongst one-page RPGs, mostly due to the limited space. But as I enjoy playing games with friends I wanted to have something that could be played with a group. In the beginning I had it be 5 or so players but I ended it with 3 for balance reasons. It’s a simple game that I had a lot fo fun making.

Creating the tables, which provide the prompts, were a lot of fun to make. I saw a dual-axis table for two dice somewhere and thought it was a great space saver. Going for two d6’s meant I could get 36 options in a fairly compact table, which is needed for the one-page jam. Creating the game also really helped get me into the mindset of creating stuff for others, which until now has not really been necessary. Obviously the aim of this website is to post more things for others and we’ll get there soon (stay tuned), and so I am grateful for the experience. I had some good feedback from the Discord channel and on the submission page, which is encouraging and appreciated.

If you check it out, please let me know what you think. Cheers!
